Ladder Association instructors
Every Ladder Association training course is delivered by a qualified instructor who is a subject matter expert on portable ladders. Together, our instructors help thousands of operatives learn to work confidently and safely with ladders and stepladders every year.
Book your place on instructor training courses
Booking an instructor onto a Ladder Association training session is simple! Whether you (or they) are qualifying for the first time or upskilling at one of our regular training days, our user-friendly booking system will handle it all.
Until now, booking instructor training has involved various forms, emails, invoices and even phone calls. We know this is time-consuming, and it must be hard for you to keep track of what’s happening. So, we’ve made some changes.
The booking process
Using our booking system, simply select the course you want, pick a date, enter a few details and pay for it online. All this is done quickly and securely. As always, either the instructor (known as the ‘delegate’) can book for themselves or someone else can do it on their behalf (the ‘lead booker’).
Once the booking is confirmed, the lead booker and the delegate will receive a series of helpful emails with course materials, joining instructions and reminders before the day.
For added reassurance, you can also log in and see the courses you’ve booked and access all relevant information within your account. Any feedback from the trainer will be in there too, so it’s handy for future reference. It just means everything is there for you in one place.
All this really streamlines the process from our side too, so we’ve got more time to spend improving our courses, talking to instructors and doing what we love most – teaching people about the safe use of ladders.

New instructors
To become a Ladder Association instructor, you must either be employed by a training member or register as a freelance (self-employed) instructor. You’ll also have prior knowledge and experience of ladders. On successful completion, you can run the following courses:

Instructor training is split into five modules. Modules 2 to 5 are mandatory for every new Ladder Association instructor. However, you may be exempt from module 1 if you’ve already got a recognised qualification in Instructional Techniques.
*Instructors must also attend a ‘Ladders & Stepladders for Managers’ course in order to then qualify to deliver the course themselves.
