HSS offers Ladder Association training to ex-offenders

People leaving prison can now get ladder and stepladder training to help them on the path to paid employment. It's all thanks to a new partnership between HSS Training and Bounce Back, a charity that equips ex-offenders with sought-after construction industry skills. The Ladder Association courses will be offered to those who are keen to learn but have never been trained to use ladders safely.

Our Executive Director, Peter Bennett OBE, visited the new HSS training centre at the Bounce Back HQ in Victoria, London this week for the official opening. He is pictured above (right) presenting a plaque to Francesca Findlater, CEO of Bounce Back, alongside Mark Winfield, Managing Director of HSS Training.

Bounce Back was founded by people who want to make a difference. It started life in 2011 as a small painting and decorating social enterprise, employing workers who were coming out of prison. It wasn’t long before they began to offer training too, brightening the job prospects for more and more ex-prisoners. Their partnership with HSS Training means those they support can now join the thousands of delegates who take Ladder Association training courses every year.

Mark Winfield of HSS Training told us: “We are over the moon to officially open our new training centre at the Bounce Back headquarters in London. Like them, we firmly believe that everyone has the ability to change and deserves an opportunity to do so. Being trained to use ladders gives you an advantage with potential employers, who need people on site that are competent to use them safely. Through our work with Bounce Back, we're providing ex-offenders with the skills they need to take their next step into employment.”
