7,000 registered for free ladder safety webinar from Ladder Association and HSE
Updated 14 July 2021 - The Ladder Association and Health & Safety Executive (HSE) have worked together on two updated guidance documents that are set to help thousands of people work more safely on ladders.
With falls from height such a common type of accident, and the leading cause of fatalities at work, the updated guidance will be welcomed by safety professionals, site managers, company directors and ladder users alike.
It is being launched at a special one-off event taking place online on Thursday 15 July at 10:30am UK time, which is free to attend.
As well as exclusive first access to the refreshed guidance, attendees will learn about the key steps to preventing ladder accidents in the workplace, including how to select (and maintain) safe equipment and ensure all workers are competent. The updated guidance covers all types of portable ladders and the updated standards.
The event host is Gail Hounslea, chairman of the Ladder Association and managing director of Ladderstore.
She will introduce Paul Cook, who has undertaken a range of senior policy and communications roles with the Health & Safety Executive since 2009 and is currently Head of Web services, Content and Design. Paul will use real life examples to highlight the leading causes of ladder falls, the importance of industry guidance in preventing these accidents and introduce the recent changes.
Attendees will then hear from ladder safety experts Don Aers (Technical Director, Ladder Association), Francis Camilleri (Director, TB Davies), Steve Booker (Group Managing Director, Kentec Training) and Dennis Seaton (Regional Training Manager, HSS Training).
They are all representing the Ladder Association and share a passion for keeping people safe on ladders. Together they will walk through the key steps to preventing ladder accidents in the workplace, touching on ladder standards, selection, pre-use checks, inspections and training.
The presentations will round off with Peter Bennett OBE, executive director of the Ladder Association, who will share his thoughts on preventing falls from height on a wider scale, and how each of us can play our part.
Afterwards, all speakers will be on hand to answer audience questions live.
Attendees will receive a CPD certificate, recording of the event, and an exclusive first look at the new HSE ladder safety webpages so they can give feedback before they go live to the public.
Anyone responsible for the safety of ladder users will find this 90-minute event invaluable.
